What’s In My Office: Social Media Edition

I’ve recently been receiving an influx of interest from new social media marketers, just starting out in the industry. Much of this interest has come from one of my older blog post A Day In The Life Of A Social Media Marketer. Today I figured I would share a little insight into what my office is like, and various things that help me run my successful social media agency.

Here are some things you’ll find around my office:

A large whiteboard
I really couldn't live without this. It's great for making little notes/reminders on, and working out my daily to do list. It's also a great source for
brainstorming strategies for various clients’ social media accounts. I've even gone as far as to use my glass desktop as an extended whiteboard at times.

That's what she said button
It would make more sense to have a Staples easy button, but I happened to stumble across this at Wal-mart once and made the mistake of buying it for the boyfriend. It brings a little comical relief to the office at times ... but at times ,I wish it would end up in the trash.

A pillow
I wish this was for sleeping on, but nope. I spend a good 80% of my day sitting in my office chair. Within the first month of buying a new office chair, I had worn down every inch of padding it had to offer. I now sit on a comfy decorative pillow from Home Sense.

Coffee
Believe it or not, I've only just started drinking coffee. I'm part of the 4am wake up crew that starts working before most people are even out of bed. The early mornings can be challenging at times, which brings the need for coffee some days. My other half got me hooked on cinnamon lattes from Starbucks, so it makes for an expensive but delicious habit.

A Wii
Like many entrepreneurs, I work a lot. Every once in a while it’s great to step away from the computer and have some downtime. A few rounds of Mario Karts helps relax and refresh the mind before heading back to work.

Let’s hear from you. What things can we find around your office? Leave your comment below.

  1. Total agreement about the pillow. I'm actually sitting on one as we speak! I also keep a dictionary and thesaurus on my desk in easy reach--given the brevity of Social Media, I focus on the quality and impact of my words to convey my message : )
