In a recent survey, conducted by Experian Marketing Services, it has been reported 49% of marketers will launch their Christmas campaigns before Halloween. This means many marketers start planning for the Christmas campaigns during the summer season, as early as June.
The survey also reported that 83% are planning on running cross-channel marketing campaigns, using top marketing channels such as online display, email, search and mobile. In addition, 70% have planned to use promotional offers to entice consumers to buy their products/services this holiday season.
A retailer that doesn’t have any problems with launching a campaign early sure knows how to get attention. K-Mart recently aired their Christmas commercial on September 9th – making it the first Christmas commercial to air this year.
K-Mart’s messaging “Don’t let the holidays sneak up on you” is quite ironic but works brilliantly as the retailer took a risk and launched their campaign way ahead of others. With only 87 days left till Christmas, maybe it’s not too early to consider launching a holiday campaign.
We definitely don’t disagree with planning ahead but it seems the launch of Christmas campaigns comes earlier and earlier every year. As always, we encourage you to leave a comment below and tell us whether or not you think it’s too early to launch a Christmas campaign before Halloween.
