Women's World Cup Sets A New Twitter Record This Weekend

Over the weekend, Twitter hit a new record as users tweeted about the Women’s world cup. In just a few short days, Twitter saw over 7,100 tweets per second at the end of the game. This of course was due to Japan being stunned with an upset victory.

Soccer fans from across the nation also set a new second-place record on Twitter for most tweets per second over the weekend, during the Brazil game. Even the official Twitter page had something to tweet about during the game: New Tweets per second records! End of the #WWC final: 7196 TPS. And today's end to the Paraguay/Brazil game is now 2nd with 7166 TPS
