I wanted to share a more personal experience with everyone, partially because I find it funny, but I also hope you will learn from my mistake.
The other day I figured I would be productive and go grocery shopping on my lunch break to save some time after work. I didn't think anything of it during my lunch break, making sure not to buy anything that had to be refrigerated. When I got off work I was talking on the phone with a friend, hoped in my car and it took me a few minutes to realize that someone had broken into my 2000 Alero and rifled through my glove box. There was nothing in there and by the looks of it nothing was taken. I have had my car broken into at a different mall once before and was told that thieves are using a universal key fob to get into cars like mine.
I was about halfway home before I realized that the thieves that broke into my car in fact did take something out of my car. They stole my bag of veggies that I had bough on my lunch break. I think I was more upset that they stole my groceries than I was that they had broken into my car. I was too upset to go to the grocery store and buy the same groceries for a second time that day, I nominated by boyfriend to be in charge of dinner that might.
Moral of the store: don't leave any shopping bags in plain site for someone to steal.
And the sad thing about all this, my mother has been warning me about this for years. " You know they brake into peoples car for anything from spare change to a stick of gum."
